Louise Johanna (Schaeffer) Smith was born January 6, 1935 in
Norwich, Connecticut to John Everett and Catherine Elizabeth Schaeffer. Louise joined her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.
Louise has spent her life back and forth between La Porte (as a
resident for 26 years) and family ties in Connecticut. Aside from raising her own children, she and her husband, Robert have invested much of their time as cottage parents at Boys and Girls Harbor over the course of several years from 1984 to 1996. She has driven school bus in both La Porte and back in Connecticut. Louise loved being out and about, and doing for others. She would volunteer as often as she was asked. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Pasadena, TX. She was always up for a game of putt-putt or collecting sand dollars on the beach (Galveston, of course). She was an amazing woman with a giving heart who will be missed by many.
Louise is preceded by her parents, John and Catherine, a sister, Marie and two brothers, Johnny and Franz.
Louise is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Smith; Her children, David McArthur, Scott (& Gail)
McArthur, Carl Mc Arthur, Robert (&Holga) Smith Jr., Chris (& Diana) Smith. Her memories will live on in her grand and great-grandchildren and too many friends to mention.
