Obituary for Unessa Ann Henderson

Unessa Ann Henderson (Smith) was born August 3, 1962 in Refugio, Texas to Ulysses Smith and Ernestine Erskin. In her early years she lived in Baytown and graduated from Sterling High School. She was an exceptional athlete in running track. Moving over to La Porte she was an active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. In 2013 she was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She worked as a Police dispatcher early in her career and then moved on to work as a Head start Teacher at DE Zavala Head start in Baytown, Texas. All this time she was raising her children and enjoying friends and family life. She lived in La Porte for 20 years before settling in Victoria in 2014. There she became a home health aide where she thrived and enjoyed taking care of people, and transferred her pleasure in serving to St. Peters Church in Victoria, TX. She loved playing cards and being with her grandbabies.

Unessa will be missed dearly by her Beloved Mother, Ernestine Erskin and Loving Father, Johner Erskin. Her devoted sons; Brenton McCoy, Trenton McCoy and Ernest Harris as well as her devoted daughter, Twansha Bright (Shae) and loving son-in-law, Walter Bright will have to carry on with her memories and treasured family traditions. Her Brothers; Ulysses Brent Smith, Danny Ray Deon, Clifton Smith and Clifford Smith, as well as her sisters, Elaine Moore and Merilyn Smith are deeply saddened by her loss.

She enjoyed five grandchildren, before moving on to her heavenly reward; Daja Henderson, Aujenea Henderson, Melvin Anderson, Brenton McCoy Jr. and Bre’nay McCoy as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who are also considered family.

When she reaches the heavenly gates, she will be greated by her father Ulysses Smith and brother, Theodore Roosevelt Dean Jr.
