Obituary for Richard Dale "Ric" Carroll

Richard Dale "Ric" Carroll
Richard “Ric” Dale Carroll was born on August 14, 1957 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Percy Jack Carroll and Queeda Maureen Casey. After a long battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), Ric passed with his family by his side on June 28, 2017. Ric was a loving Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Grandfather.
Ric was a graduate of Sulphur High School and also a member of the “Choupiqué University.”
Ric met Jan Linscombe when they were fifteen years old, and five years later on July 30, 1977, they were married. They have been married for forty years this year, and had three children, Ricki, Randi, and Matthew. His deep Louisiana roots brought out his love for celebrating Mardi Gras and dancing to Zydeco music with his “Happy Feet,” and you could always find him entertaining as he was a Proprietor of Ric’s Tiger Den. He was an avid sports fan, but had a great passion for the Saints and LSU and loved everything New Orleans. Although he was born and raised in Louisiana, Ric loved living on the bay in Seabrook, and enjoyed the beach life. Ric was also given the title of “Honorary Mayor of El Jardin “and spent a lot of his time there taking daily pictures of the sunrise and beach combing. Growing up in Louisiana, Ric was a member of Westlake Church of Christ and upon moving to El Jardin, he organized and attended church services with the neighbors on the beach. Ric worked for many years in the Oil Industry and had put in fourteen years working maintenance to the City of Seabrook. He worked for Inspectorate America until he had to leave due to his illness.
Laissez les bons temps rouler; “Let the good times roll” was a quote dear to Ric’s heart and something he lived by.
Ric leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Jan Carroll; his children, Ricki Carroll, Randi Menard and husband, Seth, and Matthew Carroll and wife Chelsea; his brother, Bubba Carroll and wife Autumn; his sister, Sue Wright; his sisters-in-law, Lenore and Arlene Carroll; his grandchildren, Aaralyn Carroll, Kynslee Carroll, Bryce Menard, and Cash Carroll; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
Ric is preceded in death by his Parents, Percy Carroll and Queeda Casey; his brothers, Tim Carroll and Bob Carroll.
The family would like to thank Mainland Pulmonary Associates, the staff at Bay Area Regional, Charles with RQS, Kimberly and the staff of Amed Hospice, Katrina with A1 Home Health, Bay Area House Call Doctors, the community of El Jardin, and all family and friends for the help and support that was given during their time of need.
In lieu of flowers, Ric requests that donations be made to the ALS Association of Texas. 1213 Hermann Dr., Suite 525, Houston, TX 77004 https://donate.alstexas.org/
