Life Story for Shirley Rogers

Shirley Rogers was born October 1, 1944 in Orange, Texas to Ray and Estelle Burch. Shirley was one of seven children growing up in Orange. She married early and was raising her daughter alone after losing her husband. She worked hard and eventually married again and had three more children. The family moved to the La Porte area for a job and Shirley fell in love with the city. She has been here ever since. Shirley had a heart of gold. She worked hard all her life to give her family everything she could. As she got a little older, Shirley joined up with the police; Going through both the beginning and advanced Citizen’s Police Academy. In the last few years, anywhere you saw volunteers, you’d see Shirley (almost always with Emma and Josh) She, Emma and Josh were the 3 musketeers of the volunteer core. Every event would find Shirley giving it her all. She never met a stranger, so everyone was invited in and welcome with a smile. Shirley lived a simple life and always felt at home making people feel welcome whether in her front yard or volunteering. She spent 25 years working at happy harbor, and touched many lives there as well.

Shirley is proceeded by her parents, Ray and Estelle; an infant child, Sheryl Rogers; daughter, Annette Moore and infant grandson, Wayland Zech.

Shirley is survived by her son; Jerry Rogers (wife Amanda) and her daughter; Emma Zech. Her grandchildren; Herschel Moore Sr., Christina Moore, Shaun Rogers, Scott Rogers, Wesley Zech ( wife, Brooke), Dillon Zech, Josh Zech and Brett Rogers. Great-grandchildren; Alyx Moore, Amee Moore, Herschel Moore, Jr. , Ashley Moore, Aiden Moore, Daniel Zech, Johnathan (JJ) Zech, Noel Rogers, Wyatt Estes, Jessie Rogers, Alanna Rogers, Lash Rogers, Ryder Rogers. She also leaves behind her siblings; Bertie (Lenney) Drucker, Marilyn Carlino, Dorothy (Don) Hanley, Ray (Linda ) Kay, Helen (Robert) Peugh and Ellen (Larry) Cormier. Shirley will be missed by so many, whose lives she touched with her smile, her encouragement and her heart.
